Born and raised in Amsterdam, she started her PROFESSIONAL PAINTING CAREER during the transition from the eighties to the nineties.
During her move to Spain, the linen and paper that she exposed with in the Netherlands and Barcelona, were replaced by pieces of wood she found on Ibiza.
The wood, already touched by time and weather when found, formed a source of great inspirations.

Irma Kuyper reanimated the almost deceased wood with PAINTBRUSH and colours.
Her work reads like a colourful story, in which deeper thoughts are camouflaged by happy, lively colours.
